Preparing for your appointment

Good preparation helps you start your appointment feeling relaxed and supports your body during the tattooing process.

Marlies concentrating while tattooing

Please read these points in the days before your appointment. If you are unsure whether your health, medication or skin makes tattooing safe for you, contact me beforehand.

Get plenty of rest

Try to get to bed on time the night before. Avoid alcohol and drugs, and limit large amounts of caffeine.

Food and drink

Eat well beforehand and bring enough food and drink, especially for a longer session. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.

Bring a distraction

Headphones, music or a book can be helpful. While tattooing, I will be focused on giving you the best possible result.

Suitable clothing

Wear loose, practical clothing that gives me easy access to the area. Avoid new clothes, busy prints and bright colours where possible. For a back tattoo, a cardigan worn backwards can help; for your leg, a wrap skirt can be useful.

Privacy and comfort

Your comfort is very important to me. Tell me beforehand if the tattoo is in an intimate area or requires you to undress partially, so we can find the best way to protect your privacy.

On the day

Arrive on time with clean skin. Do not use numbing cream on the area without discussing it beforehand. If you are unwell or unsure, contact me so we can decide what is best together.
